Milan Fashion Week SS17

The Spring/Summer 2017 Milan Fashion Week has just wrapped up, and there were plenty of shows that caught our attention.  We have chosen a few collections to highlight, not only because the looks are fabulous, but also because the shows were incredibly entertaining.  These designers know how to put on a show.

Bottega Veneta

Bottega Veneta celebrated 50 years of the brand in Milan this month. The show featured famous models including Lauren Hutton, who surprised the audience by walking the runway in a classic trench and carrying the same purse she used in American Gigolo.  Hutton’s trench fit in seamlessly with timeless womenswear shown in the collection.

Fausto Puglisi

Fausto Puglisi opted out of a traditional runway show for a more theatrical medium.  The designer’s collection was staged by the artistic director of a Tuscan prison theatre company, and featured heavy Catholic and Silician motifs.

Diesel Black Gold

The Diesel Black Gold collection was comprised of thoroughly ’90s-inspired looks, from baby doll slip dresses to messy top knots.  Models walked the runway to the music of Bjork, and inspiration from the Icelandic singer’s signature style was evident in the entire collection.

Moschino

Moschino’s muse was equally as evident.  The models walked the runway as living paper dolls, wearing 2D printed outfits that looked three-dimensional.  The show was gimmicky, but it was also unique and intriguing.  And, it’s given us some real inspiration for super chic Halloween costumes!
