Lamborghini designers and engineers set out from the beginning to create a one-of-a-kind vehicle that still retained the iconic Lamborghini image. If reviews are any indication, the team has been highly successful. This is how Lamborghini describes the Urus:

“A super sports car soul and the functionality typical for an SUV: this is Lamborghini Urus, the world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle. Identifiable as an authentic Lamborghini with its unmistakable DNA, Urus is at the same time a groundbreaking car: the extreme proportions, the pure Lamborghini design and the outstanding performance make it absolutely unique. Urus’ distinctive silhouette with a dynamic flying coupé line shows its super sports origins, while its outstanding proportions convey strength, solidity and safety. Urus’ success factors are definitely the design, the driving dynamics and the performance. All these features allowed Lamborghini to launch a Super Sport Utility Vehicle remaining loyal to its DNA.”

The Design

Every surface in the Lamborghini Urus is designed with attention to functionality. The cutting-edge vehicle has multiple souls, according to the maker. The car can be sporty, elegant, and off-road. The muscular surfaces give the Urus a strong appearance. In spite of its ruggedness, the vehicle maintains luxury sports car elements. The Lamborghini elements are noted throughout the design. The “Y” and the hexagon elements, the extreme proportions, and the front bonnet with a center peak are all classic Lamborghini features. The makers drew inspiration from classic models in the line, such as the LM002. This model inspired the power dome showing the position of the engine. The frameless doors are an element brought forward from the iconic Marcello Gandini line.
