As exciting as award shows are, they are only one small part of the excitement surrounding these events. Award shows are often days-long events, with both pre-parties and after parties. If you are lucky enough to snag a ticket to one of the award show parties, it will be a night you will never forget. Here is your backstage access to what happens at the award show after parties.

Interviews and Photo Ops

Many of the award show after parties are opportunities for the award winners to be seen and even take pictures with their award in hand. Who wouldn’t delight at the chance to talk about their big win that evening? Award winners are often asked about their reactions to winning. In some cases, the after party is a great chance for celebrities to clear up a misunderstanding that happened on stage. One year there was much talk about a perceived snub of Rami Malek by Nicole Kidman onstage at the Golden Globes. Post-show, however, both stars were given ample opportunities to clear up what happened.

Byron Allen’s 2018 Oscar Party featured performances by several artists, but the headliner who took the stage after the Academy Awards concluded was none other than Katy Perry. She hopped on stage in a sparkly ensemble at 10:30 pm and performed several fan favorites like “Chained To The Rhythm” and “Teenage Dream.” She introduced her hit song “Hot n Cold” by describing it as “an oldie, but it’s a goodie.” She ended her set with her smash hit “Firework.”

Sir Elton John plays host and sometimes emcee at his party, the Elton John Aids Fundraiser. After the awards show, he introduced Greta Van Fleet to the stage and joined them to the thrill of the crowd.“I’ll tell you what. This is the youngest band I have ever played with in my life,” John says. “And I love them so much.” Singer Josh Kiszka adds, “Well, I can die in peace now.” This is definitely one of the award show parties that you don’t want to miss!

Food and Dining

There is a lot of great food at award show after parties, but Vanity Fair was the first to pick up on this unexpected celebrity trend. Where do many celebrities head post-awards show for a quick bite when they are famished? The answer is In-N-Out Burger. Several years ago People Magazine noted that multiple celebrities were heading to fast food joints in their formal evening wear to grab food. Vanity Fair, picking up on the trend, now serve the burgers at their very popular and well attended post-Oscar party. According to a Vanity Fair spokesperson, they served 1,538 burgers at last year’s party.

Tributes to Winners

Who can blame award winners for wanting to celebrate their victory well after the awards show has ended? Jennifer Lopez held a bash at Beauty & Essex to revel in her Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award from the MTV Video Music Awards in 2018. Lopez and her famous friends, including boyfriend Alex Rodriguez and co-star Iggy Azalea, danced the night away. The room was decorated with Lopez’s platinum gold albums and other memorabilia. Toasts and a cake in the shape of a Video Vanguard Award were part of the tribute and festivities.
