“Classic Gran Turismo proportions infused with electrifying Audi sport DNA” is how Audi describes their newest concept. Following in the footsteps of the Audi e-tron SUV and the Audi e-tron Sportback, this vehicle will be all electric. The Audi e-Tron GT will have a low center of gravity with sleek styling to enable it to perform as a sports car should. This exciting car, which debuted in fall 2018 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, is set to hit the market in about two years. Here is a look at what makes the Audi concept car so exciting.
The design was inspired by a wind tunnel, with the idea to create a vehicle that is able to move effortlessly with little resistance. The technology for the e-Tron GT was developed in close collaboration with Porsche, but the DNA is all Audi. Like a classic Gran Turismo, the vehicle is flat and wide with a long wheelbase. The Audi e-Tron GT concept measures 16.3 feet in length, 6.4 feet wide, and 4.5 feet high. The lightweight body combined with precise engineering makes this a very efficient sportscar.
With four seats and two luggage compartments, the Audi concept car offers the options of a Gran Turismo. The deliberate design that centers around sustainable materials is what makes the vehicle truly stand out from the rest. This is the wave of the future for contemporary automotive design.
There are no animal products anywhere in the interior of the Audi e-Tron GT. The interior is completely vegan. The synthetic leather used on the seats and trim is high quality and comfortable. The seat cushions, armrests, and the center console all use fabrics made from recycled fibers. Even the deep pile floor carpet in the e-Tron GT is sustainably made. Fishing nets are recycled to make Econyl yarn. This sustainable fiber is completely made from recycled materials but you would never guess that. The finish is completely luxurious.
The all-electric Audi concept car offers several options for charging the battery. One option is to use a cable that connects behind the flap in the left front wing of the vehicle. Another exciting option is the contactless induction. Audi Wireless Charging is part of the design. A charging pad with an integral coil is permanently installed on the floor where the car will be parked regularly. This pad connects to a power supply. The alternating magnetic field will induce an alternating voltage in the secondary coil installed in the car. The Audi Wireless Charging output is 11 kW. This means the Audi e-tron GT concept can conveniently charge fully overnight while you sleep.
The Audi concept car has a technologically advanced 800-volt system. This makes wired charging much faster than other similar four-door coupes. Drivers can expect to recharge the battery to 80 percent of its capacity in just 20 minutes. This level of charge will provide almost 200 miles of travel. The efficiency and variety of ways to charge the Audi e-Tron save drivers time and energy.
