The genius minds who brought the world the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG or the Porsche 718 Boxster are intrepid in their pursuit of innovation. It’s only natural, then, that when deciding where to innovate next, many top car manufacturers look to the sea. Check out the list below for some truly amazing collaborations between manufacturers of luxury cars and luxury yachts.
A marriage between the British luxury carmaker and Netherlands-based yacht manufacturer resulted in the Aston Martin Quintessence AM-37. With its handsome wood grain and metallic exterior, the ship’s deck shows influences of mid-century modernism. But make no mistake—with a 2 x 370 HP Mercury diesel engine engine built by Aston Martin, the ship’s interior is outfitted entirely with the latest in innovative technology. It allows its captain to rev up to a maximum speed of up to 44 knots, while its deep V hull ensures maximum maneuverability.
Amenities include the latest in fingerprint technology, sun beds, and a cocktail bar, as well as remote control air conditioning and coffee machines.
The Michelangelo of the motor arena, Bugatti extends its artful approach to its collaboration with yacht builder Palmer Johnson. Remaining true to the rich Bugatti heritage for sculpture and design, the Bugatti PJ63 Niniette is a study in modern materials. The ultra-sleek titanium used in its exterior encases the natural wood elements used with in the ship’s deck to create a seamless integration of nature and technology.
With highly customizable bespoke styling options for the ship’s interior and accommodations for up to four in the cabin, this ship also makes a perfect setting for intimate cruises.
It was only a matter of time before German design studio Porsche was commissioned to create a luxury speedboat for Miami-based boat manufacturer Fearless Yachts. Its smooth, clean lines mimic its counterparts on land, and just as its name suggests, this audaciously bold yacht is perfect for exploring where no ship has sailed before. Every detail of the yacht has been configured with power and speed in mind, from its 550 horsepower engine to its ultra-sharp hull.
With a name as synonymous with luxury as Mercedes-Benz, all eyes were on the German luxury car manufacturer when it announced the unveiling of its yacht collaboration. The Arrow460-Granturismo motor yacht doesn’t disappoint. Combining the impeccable craftsmanship of luxury yacht manufacturer Silver Arrows Marine with the unmistakable style of the brand, Mercedes has extended its ingenuity to conquer the sea.
Appropriately nicknamed “Silver Arrow of the Seas”, this strikingly beautiful forms of the yacht might lead one to mistake it for a majestic sea creature from afar. However, an up-close glance reveals that no detail has gone unnoticed. Smooth lines on the ship’s exterior reflect the classic contours of the iconic Mercedes, while its floor-to-ceiling eucalyptus-lined interior carries the seamless flow inwards.
With room for 10, a top-quality sound system, and built-in chilled wine storage, this yacht is perfect for entertaining. However, with an experience this special, you may be tempted to simply retract the windows, rev the engine, and set out onto the azure blue of the sea on a charter set for two.
Amazing things happen when great minds come together to push the boundaries of innovation, imagination, and luxury. If you find it difficult to decide on a favorite between cars and yachts, there’s no need—you can have both.
