The Work Behind the Magic of Mario Batali

Have you ever wished you could turn food into scrumptious feasts? Mario Batali is a writer, restaurateur, and chef with classic culinary training. Not only is he well skilled in gourmet foods, but he is an expert on the history and culture of Italian cuisine. However, such skill doesn’t come without hard work. Here’s the work behind the magic of Mario Batali!

Like many students, Batali went to a traditional college and got a traditional degree from Rutgers University in Spanish Theatre and Economics, but his passion was still cooking. Though he started culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu, he wasn’t afraid to step outside the box when he felt the school started to inhibit his creativity. Instead, Mario Batali took the path of working under the guidance of various influential chefs in London.

In 1992, Mario Batali arrived in New York with nothing more than $200, a duffel bag, and his guitar. Sometimes the best way to achieve your dreams is to work your way up from the bottom. In 1993, Batali engaged in successful partnerships with Lydia Bastianich’s son Joseph. Together, their ventures included Lupa, Babbo, Otto, Casa Mono, Bar Jamon, Bistro du Vent, and Del Posto. If you want to make food like Batali, you really have to delve into the culture and history of the food you love!  Today he is one of the top chefs in New York City.

Of course, top culinary schools can teach you how to make a platter that is eye-catching at best, but Batali’s studies of the Italian culture and food helped him to see that simple dishes can be some of the best. His famous menu selections include grilled quail, rabbit, duck, homemade pastas, among other tasty dishes.

One secret to the work behind the magic of Mario Barali is that he wants others to enjoy the love for food and culture as much as he does. Not only has he established some of the greatest restaurants in the United States but he has also written numerous cookbooks to bring the joy of cooking to the home. If you want to cook like Batali, it all starts in the kitchen at your home.
