Driving through the gates upon arriving to the Maison De Luxe Designer Showcase House Preview Gala this past Thursday was a wonderful reminder that luxury will live forever. The authenticity and grandeur of the Doheny Greystone Mansion cannot be mistaken for anything but luxury living. The mansion is now owned by the city of Beverly Hills and rented out for films and events. Luxe magazine has produced an amazing showcase home featuring 24 top interior designers from all over the country. The collaboration is not to be missed.
It is very exciting for us to bring these top designers to Greystone where they will exhibit their exquisite talent and originality,” said Cindy Brynan, Senior Supervisor of the event being held at Greystone Mansion. “In keeping with the glamour and sophistication of this treasured estate, twenty talented designers from across the country will transform the interiors behind this classic facade and bring their creative vision to life.
Participants include such noted designers as Kristen Buckingham, Timothy Corrigan, Patrick Dragonette, Benjamin Dhong, Oliver Furth, Cliff Fong, Jane Hallworth, Lauren Liess, Molly Luetkemeyer, Amy Meier, Frances Merrill, Julie Massucco Kleiner and Melissa Warner, Brian Paquette, Mat Sanders, Andrea Schumacher, Mark D. Sikes, Sara Story, Summer Thornton, Benjamin Vandiver, Chloe Warner and Beth Webb.
Before we start our tour of Greystone Mansion, I’d like to share a little history about this incredible home. Architect Gordon B. Kaufman began building Greystone for the Doheny family in 1927. The 46,000-square-foot estate, with formal gardens on 18.5 manicured acres, is situated in Trousdale Estates above famed Sunset Boulevard. Mr. Edward L. Doheny built the estate for his son, Edward “Ned” Doheny, Jr. I must mention that “Ned” was found dead with his secretary just four months after he and his family moved into the house. The murder mystery still haunts the house and many people claim there are frequent “visitors”. This unfortunate background did not deter an all star list of designers from transforming the interiors of Greystone Manor.
