The Best Electric Cars for 2018

With the onslaught of electric cars in recent years as well as their rise to popularity, it’s no wonder that there are electric cars in the line-ups of nearly every car manufacturer. From the low budget entry level electric cars to the luxury high-end, the future of cars is clearly electric, but which are the best for 2018? We’ve found six we’re watching (and hopefully driving soon).

BMW i3

BMW has been a classic, mid-range car we’ve all appreciated for years and their i3 became an immediate front-runner for those interested in a quality electric vehicle. They have made their 2018 model even greater by taking great steps to increase the car’s range by around 50 percent. Of course, if you’d prefer something more sporty, the BMW i8 is a beautiful option.

Audi’s A3 has been around for a few years, but with their 2017 models, they made some changes that have proven to be quite favorable, favorable enough that we’re excited about their 2018 models. Some of those changes they implemented include their “Virtual Cockpit” which is a cluster of digital gauges and a panoramic sunroof.  You will also find a front pre-collision warning they call the Audi Pre-Sense which even applies the brakes on its own. A rearview camera along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility round out the features.

Jaguar I‑PACE

While the Jaguar I‑PACE is still technically a concept car, they’ve promised to deliver it in the latter half of 2018 which means it holds a place on this list because it’s held our excitement and anticipation since it was announced. It looks more like a fine luxury automobile than a sporty electric car. Jaguar describes this – their first electric car – as being “designed to bring thrilling Jaguar performance to electric vehicles.” They also promise to ensure that it will deliver a driving experience “that remains unmistakably Jaguar.”

Aston Martin RapidE

Pure four-door luxury, the Aston Martin Rapide S is a vehicle that is purely luxurious and can only be described as a sports car with four doors. From its refined interior styling to its sleek exterior design, the Rapide S is a dream. Why is it on this list of electric cars for 2018? Technically it probably shouldn’t be, but Aston Martin is going to release an electric version of this gorgeous vehicle in 2019, the RapidE, so it should be on your radar.

Faraday Future is working to unify sustainable transportation and digital ecosystems which they feel will redefine the mobility of our future. We’ve been keeping our eye on them since they formed in 2014 and showed up with their concept car at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2016. Now they’re planning on delivering 300 FF91s in early 2018. With a promised 300+ miles per charge and a driver user integration that is unparalleled, the FF91 may be the car of our dreams.

Tesla Model 3

After Tesla’s Model S P100D won MotorTrend’s World’s Greatest Drag Race and shook things up, even more people are taking notice that electric is a viable option for the car lover. Their Model 3 promises to live up to Tesla’s standards and they’re taking reservations now. As they note, it is “Designed to attain the highest safety ratings in every category, Model 3 achieves 220 miles of range.”

Excitement abounds with our list of the best electric cars of 2018 (and beyond). So, tell us, which one would you choose from our list? We already mentioned a spoiler, but read more about that drag race: Tesla vs. Porsche, Ferrari, and Aston Martin. Who Won?
